Default Do you like happy endings? - 07-17-2010, 09:44 PM

just wanted to find out what everyones preference is on endings

i like happy endings (if it is romance/ slice of life etc) or resolutant and clear endings(if it is action, shonen any other genre), i hate above all inconclusive endings which you see at the end of many animes these days particularly 13 ep series and in the romance/comedy+high school animes.

i guess i like happy endings cause the real world is filled with so much despair and shit i'd at least like to see things turn out good in my fiction, although some times id like to see evil win the day atleast once like having a character actually successfully conquer the world unlike some other series *cough* death note* cough*code geass*cough

I don't mind sad endings as long as the anime was good *thinking of tokyo magnitude 8.0*
I'll settle for an inconclusive plot if I know there will be a follow-up season. Otherwise I prefer closure, although I don't mind if they leave some stuff up to the viewer's imagination, like in Xam'd

Sad ending usually gives rather unique feeling about series. Saikano, anyone?

Generally I prefer happy endings but some series were meant to be tearjerkers and I don't mind that once in a while. Inconclusive endings are fitting sometimes as well, but most of them just come off as sheer laziness or incompetence.

I prefer happy endings that aren't retarded. For a good comparison of the difference, I direct you to Dragonaut: The Resonance as a crappy one and Full Metal Alchemist as a good one.

I like endings that give a sense of closure.

I prefer happy fulfilling endings, but sad ones can sometimes really leave an impact on you... (ga-rei zero)

Inconclusive endings however, make me feel like I wasted my time; causing me to want those 13 weeks of my life back.

It's hard to find a tearjerking anime ending, but those endings are the best of all if they can pull that much emotion out of me
