If u r in d mood for sad story animes u should try watching Makoto Shinkai's works (the BIGGEST sadist I know in d anime industry)

His works include:
Hoshi no koe (not watched this one)
Ef- a tale of memories (it feels like makoto is constantly tryin to drown u)
5 cm per second (its animation is so good that it s hard to say its 2D but its got sad ending

)
The place promised in our early days(not watched this one)

And also on seeing clannad aftrstory s story and animation I m having doubts if makoto is one of d animators for it

Secondly, The place promised in our early days was just fantastic, and as I remember the ending wasn't bad. Actually, I kind of feel like rewatching that now...

Thirdly, don't forget about Voices of a Distant Star. That was the first one that he'd worked on. Painfully sad.

I have ALL of his movies, and I love em'. Sadly my sis' doesn't appreciate it as much as I do...

Also, iguana8 DID mention it. That's what "Hoshi no Koe" translates to in English.

Hoshi = Star

Koe = Voice(s)

no = (a character that when used, means that the noun that proceeds it belongs to or is a trait of the noun that precedes it)
