Unfortunately, yes. But it is made by Gainax so what can I say.

But the action is top notch and you can tell how much production value went into this. Besides, I think it's better than most of the dumbass films Hollywood churns out these days like those dumbass game and anime adaptation movies.

The ending is actually more of a cliff hanger really. Really makes you want to watch the next film.

I normally despise Gainax animes since they're so ridiculous and retarded. Ex. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Diebuster, etc. Exceptions are Evangelion and FLCL.

Not yet. I need to find a smaller download and I've been writing a essay. I'm looking forward to it but I should probably watch the first movie first. I don't remember if I watched it or not.

Too bad they ruined what had become a classic. Compared to the original series and the "End of Evangelion" movie the direction of this was laughable.

The music, to start with, is simply insulting, with children singing lovely and joyful songs in the middle of action, blood and desperation. Is there even anything more anticlimactic than that? Whatever dramatic effect they were looking to create by doing that, they failed on every level.

They also pushed all the silly late 80's comedy that was in the original 26 episodes series in a 2 hours long movie. Asuka became some sort of grumpy princess in love and Rei? Playing cupid? Is it a joke? Even though this is a movie, there is nothing

I can understand most of the plot changes (like turning the over mentioned 80's comedy into something more shallow and perverted for the sake of the current trend), but the inclusion of another EVA pilot was pointless at this point. A happy-go-lucky fan service instrument that can magically pilot any EVA at first try, rrright...

The only thing that stops this movie from being completely worthless is the "production value" and what's left intact in it of the original.
On my side, i'll try to forget ever watching it and cling on the remote hope that this remake frenzy will stop after the next installment, before this classic is completely ruined for the new generations. (a sequel to the series would be the end of it, if it's done with the same intentions of this movie)

Ah, and there were some nice action scenes. Unfortunately, Evangelion is supposed to be much more than that.
