Default Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo - 03-17-2009, 11:29 PM

Has anybody watched this and has something good to say about it? I was toying with the idea of writing a review for a different site but I wanted to see here what other people thought about it first. Yeah, yeah. I know reviews are supposed to be the reviewers opinion, but I kinda had a weird opinion about this. My first reaction was that it was a pretty good show and I was glad to have watched it. A few minutes later I tried to come up with a reason why I liked it, only to find there wasn't one. After a while I came to hate the series, for no other reason than its mediocrity. What do you guys think, does it have any redeeming points?

My brother made a reference to Revenge of the Nerds. He was negative eleven when it came out. I'm pretty sure that qualifies it as a classic.

God awful series. Nothing in this that hasn't been done before; and more to the point, it was done rather poorly.

Redeeming features? The only thing I can think of is the character art, which was passable. Everything else from plot to animation sucked a big one.

Yes. Yes it was.

For me the worst part was the pacing. The main character lives in a dorm with 6 girls. The series very diplomatically gives each girl the same amount of screen time. Yes, even the loli. It focuses on one girl for two episodes and really messed with the timeline. It makes it seem like its chock full of continuity errors when it's really just the way they chose to tell the story. It even goes so far as to name the episodes like this:

1. Sawaki Rinna (first part)
2. Sawaki Rinna (latter part)
3. Kujou Miyaho (first part)
4. Kujou Miyaho (latter part)

The last episode, if I remember correctly, features a party where each girl stands up and makes a small speech. Then the last half of the episode seems focus on the first girl again only to bring a background character into the spotlight near the end.

I don't want to go into any details to avoid spoilers, just in case someone decides to go ahead and watch this anyway. However, the original question was what is good about this series and the best endorsement so far was

oh, that one. Yeah, it was kinda awful to watch. Or simply, it doesn't suit my taste, even if I like romantic anime.
