Definitely City Hunter. Ryo Saeba is my idol! Also Aim For The Top!(a.k.a. Gunbuster!), even the title makes you perspire to always aim for more .

Cowboy Bebop. It is just really really sad (the movie too)
Also Mushishi and Trigun. I guess all of 'em because of the similar main character type.

Neon Genesis Evangelion made me sure parents don't love their children equally(sometimes they slightly have some)

This. I will always remember that line...also this movie got me more into Shoujo anime, and it stopped me from discriminating it so much...

lol xD

I'd also like to add Spice and Wolf (For the travelling aspect and the 'never give up' aspect...it also made me more aware of my moniez lol) and, of course, Clannad...those who've watched it will know why

Clannad After Story taught me empathy. Trigun taught me to value human life. Usagi Drop has started my strong desire to be a father, and a damn good one at that. Bakuman has taught me to set and strive for goals. 5 cm per second has probably made me more pessimist/realist about life, as has Grave of the Fireflies.

Code Geass, Elfen Lied, Death Note, Clannad, Kara no Kyoukai, Kannon, Air, Ef tales of Memories/Melodies, 5cm per seconds, Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, Macross zero, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Hayao Miyazaki works, Angel Beats (Yes it has comedy and other things that in first glance may look like a main stream sh*t. But u need to look from a different angle to find inspiring story about friends, love, hardship and so on that life throws at you...)

Actualy its just a bit from my whole actual list who did deep impact to my soul. Thats why I love anime.

The noir story of Cowboy Bebop, and also that of Senkou No Night Raid (although I never finished watching it to the end ) had pretty profound impacts on me. 5cm Per Second without question, even still when I watch it there's an overarching sense that it's not a mere film but rather a cinematic adventure into the nature of humanity.
