Shounen vs Shoujo

So, what do you guys think? Which is your favourite? Or are you a fan of both?

Let's see what the general opinion of this forum is.

I am using these categories loosely to mean guys anime and girls anime. I'm assuming all anime can be put into either category, and Seinen and Josei go on their respective sides as well.

If you cast a vote it'd be nice to have your opinion, but anyone who flames one or the other and doesn't provide a valid arguement will just have their posts deleted. This is a discussion thread, not a complaining one.

Persoanlly I prefer both. It depends on my mood. Wouldn't an ideal anime have a perfect mix of both genres? What do you think?

I'm sure I watch more Shounen anime than Shoujo but I do like a good Shoujo every once in a while.

I'd go for shounen, but some shoujo titles aren't bad every once in a while.. I even enjoyed watching Akazukin Chacha while growing up too, and Magic Knight Rayearth, etc..

I don't really see the point in saying you like one over the other to be honest. A good anime is a good anime regardless of the target audiance and most genres play both sides of the field so to speak.

It depends on the show itself, and I cannot perceive a general advantage from one side over another by now. Perhaps I haven't watched many anime's but still. I might say there are amazing shounen shows and among my favorites most of all are shounen, but still there are these incredible shoujo's like the one my fellow animetaker before me mentioned. Just pure win.

Loved only action filled seinen shows but stuff like sailor moon & skip beat showed me up.
Now I "kyaaah" with rest of the ladies
