Are people that watch anime more open minded in life than those that don't?

I think so. People that watch anime may accept different customs, listen to music in foreign languages, express feelings towards animated characters in worlds far different than reality.

I'd say there's numberous reasons indicating that people that watch anime are more acceptant towards things that are different than people that watch Grey's Anatomy every week.

This is totally true!
It seriously pisses me off when people act like ignorant airheads.
I mean, how could you hate something when you don't know about it or if you don't even try it?

Not necessarily.
I've seen a fair few anime fans who can't stand a couple of minutes of talking in an action show.
Someone I know on Ghost in the Shell: "The action is really well done, but they just talk too much!"

Not sure about this it probably depends on whether or not they actually like these sort of shows when they were young as to whether or not they might try out a few other series

I'd like to think it was true. For myself anyway, I'm open to learning about all different cultures, and I'd like to think liking anime has helped me a little with that.

Side note: Grey's Anatomy is awesome. Don't flame it

I totally agree, I think anime gives people a look on different perspectives....like Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu; the anime shows how some people are persecuted against because of a unique hobby. That kind of thing really pisses me off when people are made fun of or isolated because of their interests. I think everyone should be more open to people and their personalities rather than their looks and what kind of hobbies they have.

I'm glad to see that there are many people like me out there xD

Animetake is effing awesome!

I'm kind of on the fence with this one. I think anime is a good start to appreciating other cultures but I think it is easy to think anime IS Japanese culture when it is just a facet of it. I also has found it makes me annoying to watching anything with because I turn Closed Captioning on regardless of what language the show is.

Great thread Space Cadet. Indeed anime can broaden your outlook on many things. For example, I never liked japanese music untill watching anime, actually, I made fun of it. Now I got about 50+ J-pop songs in my Ipod =D
