Swords will be an eternal part of anime just like mecha and fanservce... but who swings the most badass sword of them all?

List your favorite along with some honorable mentions, because there's too many cool swords to be held to one pick.

Favorite- Saber's Excalibur, Fate/Stay Night

It's the only sword I can think of that's invisible (though I'm sure there are others), and the wind effects hinting at its shape are nicely done. Showing splattered blood across the sword giving the outline of what Excalibur looks like is a beautiful thing.

Others worthy of wielding:

Ichigo's black bankai, Bleach
Clare's claymore, Claymore
Mikoto's sword, Miroku, Mai HiME

While not so much the sword(s) per se, but rather the setup:

Kyuzo from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], the animated series based on the 1954 classic "Seven Samurai".

As for a particular sword, I'd probably go with:

I'm also quite drawn to Karura's gigantic sword from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], as well as Demon Eyes Kyo's Muramasa from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

My favorite sword wielder is:


Saber/Arturia Pendragon/King Arthur + Caliburn (Fate/Stay Night)

I choose Caliburn because it was Saber's favorite sword before it was broken and be given the Excalibur by the Lady of The Lake. Besides, it was more beautifully made.

Obviously the coolest sword ever is Golion's Ten Kings Sword.

Some honorable mentions would be;

Saya's sword from Blood+
Hikaru's sword from MKR
Rukia's released Zanpakuto from Bleach
