So lately it seems there are less and less epic anime. They have become a rarity to say the least. The last epic anime I saw was "Gurren Lagann". And Im currently watching Bleach and Naruto (please no flamming) which are the only ongoing somewhat epic shows out there. Dont get me wrong, I dont favor epic anime over other genres such as romance or comedies, Ill watch "The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya" no prob. Im just saying there are WAY too many of those and less epic shows such as "Code Geass", "Gurren Lagann" .....etc. I need a balance. Anyone else feel this way? Or am I just missing out on all the new epic shows?

You have a point. You probably just have a preference for the epic genre. I'm quite happy to watch something like Haruhi and enjoy it for what it is, rather than wishing it was epic. My advice: try Needless. It's very epic, if you can look past the odd loli

No reason to force yourself to watch anything, but what you like. There is bonuses to watching other types though. So far, whenever a girl has seen me reading manga, 9/10s out of ten they'd ask if I liked Fruits Basket. I'd unfortunately say no and I'd never see them again.

I'd say I am pretty much stuck on either dramas or comedy lately. I haven't watched too many things in between, but I don't mind because the time I spend on shows I like were worth it. Luckily, many generic shows have some drama.

Don't change! Even when everyone makes fun of you for missing out on K-ON!. When I was typing that it sounded good, but I realized my words had no conviction. How dare you not liking K-ON!.

as for my style of watching anime, as long as it's not shonen ai, i'd pretty much give any anime a shot!^^

Almost any genre of anime can be shounen. What you said is almost a contradiction.

i pretty much agree with you darkchao45 about what you said but since you watch bleach and naruto i think you should definitely watch one piece as well, for me it's the most epic of the 3 at this moment

Haha awesome pic. Still, barely anyone know the manliness of hokuto no ken, and thus almost noone will get the joke.

As for the thread itself, I have to say that being epic is such an specific cathegory, you can't expect to have 4-5 of them every year. That would be like asking for 5 racing animes every season.
And right now, you have Guin Saga as an epic anime. It's not really that good, but it's as epic as it gets. As for needless, it's shounen... but it's all 1 on 1 fights... not very epic for me.
Also, this year you had things like Xam'd, Gundam 00, Soul eater, Tytania, etc...
