I've met a few people online who have never re-watched a show, but I always figured re-watching your favorites wouldn't be that bad. I believe they said it just gets worse and worse each time and while I generally agree - an amazing show may end up to be an amazing show without surprises during a re-watch.

While I agree to the above, after re-watching Ef ~ A Tale of Memories around 5 times the show is no longer one of my favorites. I figured re-watching a good show was better than watching a bad one fully for the first time, but with more time spent on it the less charm it had (mainly the Chihiro parts urked me over and over, but that is another discussion).

So, do you re-watch your favorite shows because they are your favorites? Do you not re-watch your favorites because you know they won't be as enjoyable as the first viewing?

I'll say I am about to re-watch Code Geass for the 4th time or so, just breaching the half way point, but it has been enjoyable as always. I think maybe only romance/drama shows from experience (I've rewatched most of the dramas I liked) were bad to re-watch because it is hard to be moved a second time without the surprise elements. I've never attempted to re-watch a comedy before because I have assumed I wouldn't laugh a second time without the surprise factor, but maybe someone else can enlighten me of their experiences with that genre. I should say this is the first time in half a year I started re-watching something, but I watched a lot of Average->good shows in the mean time and I may have wanted to remember the feeling of one of my favorites (oh no Code Geass flames inc).

I've re-watched animes before, but by accident. For some reason, I sometimes think that I haven't finished an anime yet. So I watch it from the beginning again, but it turns out I've already watched it.
Or maybe it's some kind of crazy deja vu, and I haven't actually watched it. I doubt it though.

I'll sometimes re-watch random episodes from an anime, though.

i remember watching some old episodes of bleach and they were still pretty damn good, from like way back then. also for some series that you watched while they still aired, it's nostalgic to re-watch and get that old school feeling.

i really doubt i could watch something like 4-5 times though, that's just too much. i usually don't re-watch something right after just watching it either. it's good to have a little bit of time in between for your brain to reset and forget the awesomeness, then be shocked by it again.

my exception to re-watching immediately was toradora! lol. i remember when i first found out about the show mid season. o.m.g. watched the whole thing and couldn't wait for the next episode to air so re-watched. LOL!

Once in a while I'll rewatch a series when I'm bored and have nothing better to do.

the only series i have watched more than once would be the dragonball z series and fate/stay night but i would also re-watch some episodes of some good series with some awesome battles every now and then

yup.....i will re-watch my anime collection if i was bored or there is no new eps of the anime i was followed...

If I feel like it, I'll rewatch my favorites every few months.

If it an anime i really like then yes i will rewatch it, there is only one anime i re-watched once and that anime is called "tales of the abyss".
