strangeled Asuka.

My questions....
There are Different endings. Could anyone tell me the differneces?
And the meaning? (because i dont wnat to watch it...dont really like the anime)
( Click to show/hide )
Why did Rei become so big and why she dies in so disqusting ways?
Why? Yeah Why? Was it such a horrible ending.

I started to thinking about that after i have seen this video

The meaning was simple...

( Click to show/hide )
The fans didn't like the original ending, and the director was getting death threats over it. He never wanted to change the original (which was mostly a montage made up of a lot of weird images and half finished animation). One of the most amusing things I heard was on the commentary track of "Death and Rebirth" is where one of the ADV producers said that the director felt he was pretty much forced to change the ending which he believed was perfect as it was, so as a "screw you" to the fans when the Seele soldiers invaded NERV he made sure they not only killed every side character, but did it by putting a bullet in each one's head. It is also rumored (at least it was still a rumor last time I watched them) that the director included some of the death threat letters in the animation.

So in my opinion... The original ending is something you have to figure out the meaning of for yourself. I don't think there has ever been an "official" explanation other than a lot of speculation as to what it all meant. Any other endings were created solely to pacify the pissed off fans so they are more action oriented.

Now if you don't want to formulate your own meaning then the best I've heard from the people on the "End of Evangelion" commentary was that the AT field stands for "Absolute Terror Field" which is basically the energy field surrounding all life that keeps us apart and individual from one another. The goal of Seele was to create the third impact and destroy everyone's AT field thus turning everyone into one being which is represented by the ocean of LCL. So in essence without our protective fields we all merge into a big sea of primordial soup. Shinji apparently has the power to reject this fate (obviously due to his mother being absorbed into EVA 01) which is why he's still around being asked to decide everyone's fate at the end. There are a million other things going on that I'm not going to even try to explain, but I think that is the biggest question people have about what exactly is going on at the end. I suggest "Google" for anything else.

If you were watching this just to see some kids in giant robots fighting some monsters and saving the earth, you were watching the wrong show.

If you liked the ending, despite it's psychological/philosophical themes, you should kill yourself. Even your epic sig cannot save you from that fate, should you choose to side with such fail.

I liked evangelion for most of the series until around when kaoru appeared. then it got f.. messed up. I occasionally watch the first half but I can't bring myself to watch the rest ever again. The film Death and Rebirth brought much need closure to me but you would really be better off watching RahXephon. It has pretty much the same plot and character types but not only is it less messed up (the urge to strangle the characters is rarely present), it has a good ending and it goes along way in explaining much that happens (relatively speaking)

Currently: Lurking... meh.

I frigging loved the mind-fuck ending for the series. Not gonna watch the films for "closure", I love being able to sit here and decide myself what everything meant, screw watching everyone kill each other cause the director really didn't give a shit.

I'm baaaack after my hiatus, anyone miss me?

Currently watching: Angel Beats, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Armed Librarians: The Book of Bantorra, Bleach, Durarara!!, Fairy Tail, Full Metal Alchemist : Brotherhood, Heroman, K-On!!, Naruto Shippuden

this.

ill also agree with rinvonstark.

if you dont like the last 2 episodes... you can think of the film as an "alternate ending".

they're both good but the film is more traditional i guess.

"Neo Genesis Evangelium" isn't supposed to make sense. It's all a total mind-fuck.
