The wraparound jacket band on the 10th volume of Keitarō Takahashi's Jormungand manga is announcing on Monday that a television anime adaptation by the studio WHITE FOX (Steins;Gate) has been green-lit. The story centers on an underground weapon seller and her accomplices, and it begins when a quiet boy who hates weapons joins the team.

The action manga began in Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday GX magazine in 2006, and it will end in the February 2012 issue on January 19. Viz Media began releasing Jormungand in North America in 2009, and the company's English edition of the eighth compiled book will ship on January 10.

Synopsis by Moetron :

The series follows Koko Hekmatyar, a young arms dealer who sells weapons under HCLI, a weapons corporation. As one of the company’s unofficial weapon sellers, she secretly sells weapons in many countries while avoiding the local authorities and law enforcements as most of her work is actually illegal under international law. Traveling with her is her team of bodyguards who are mostly composed of ex-military veterans. Her latest addition to her crew is Jonah, a seemingly emotionless child soldier who is skilled in combat yet ironically hates arms dealers. Jonah joins Koko as he wishes to find the arms dealer responsible for his family’s death. What follows is Koko and her crews escapades around the world.

I don't know if I should be filled with excitement or trepidation. On one hand I adore Jormangand, have the whole series and love it, can't wait for the rest to come out. On the other, will they really do it justice with an anime, or will we be stuck with some lame mess like that ablative, myopic mess ala Togainu no Chi or the stunted, snoozy OVAs tossed out for Dogs Bullets and Carnage? Granted totally different companies are handling these, but it seems fumbling seinen-esque titles is the thing to do lately...

this anime shows you "true face of the world" with the impossibility for being kind while you act as villain...

unlike many FAG-ass anime who just add gore without thinking about the reason "why they add blood" to the anime, this one has reason for every blood they spill...

personally i would gave this manga 8.15/10

i dun know about the anime... there's a screen shot from Moetron... but... that not telling us anything...

anyway... be patient... watch until episode 3 and decide drop or not...

Comparison (my opinion)

Gantz > This Manga > Black Lagoon

Gantz = Berserk

This sounds interesting, especially when you say it have a reason for every drop of blood.
Anime with real story is always appreciated very much.

I haven't really gotten into Gantz yet, I made the mistake of watching the anime instead of reading the manga. Hated the ending so...yeah. I need to get into the manga and see where the series really goes. I do agree Jormangand > Black Lagoon mostly because it is more 'real' in the scenarios, and that there aren't as many 'warrior poet' moments of reflective preachy points driving me insane with inane retrospectives. Don't get me wrong, I love character development, but when your characters are blood-thirsty, point-and-click booby monsters, it is a bit of a waste IMO trying to make the puddle as deep as the Sulu Sea. Jomangand clicks all the way around, properly.
