I dont really want to pick up them all but since Gundam age interested me I might pick up one of its predecessors.

I rather not watch the older ones.

I would suggest Gundam 00 season 1 and 2, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, Turn A Gundam. They are recent enough it can compete with current anime of the same genre. However by skipping the pre-2000 Gundam incantations you are missing out on a lot. Although admittedly some are ancient by todays standards and therefore hard to watch. Oh well when I watched them the kicked ass.
To bad I can no longer remember most of them.

All the above like gundam Age are alternate universe gundam series (stand alone)

If you want to watch old school gundam but can't handle the animation then you can go with Gundam Unicorn OVA which is a continuation of the original gundams' storyline. Although because its a continuation you might not understand a few names/terms they have, but a quick google will catch you up ^_^

Clearly, all three of you are horrible Gundam fans.

Zeta, ZZ, 08th MS Team, GWing, and Unicorn are the only real good Gundam Series/OVAs. The original Gundam too, if you enjoy quirky art. The movie compilation of the original UC Gundam series along with Char's Counterattack are also good.

Gundam SEED is probably the best choice, although i won't recommend watching destiny after it since it's crap, and it ruins seed's good name.
If not, start with 00, since it's not only a fantastic anime (probably the best gundam), but it's also new and well produced, so it's the easiest to watch.
After watching any of these 2, you'll probably start itching for much more (if not, then you should probably don't even bother with the rest), then you can start with the older ones.
Gundam Wing is way too stupid, something actually very common in the pre 90's gundams, but in this case it's even more annoying since it atemps too be inteligent. But at least the first half it's good.
G Gundam is street fighter gundam version. Bad, but so bizarre that it's kind of funny i guess.
Turn A gundam, is a slice of life anime for most of the time, with some great characters mixed with some really bad ones too. I liked it, but it's not an easy anime to recommend. And definately not the gundam to start with.
Then there's the Gundam main universe or storyline (called UC). Even if you COULD start with any series and google, i wouldn't recommend it, unless you want to watch the OVA's only. The first gundam has a set of 3 remake movies that actually resume the series pretty well, in case you don't want to watch the first 50 episodes.
After it comes Z gundam, which has a nice story, some nice characters, but also has too many stupid things (like the pilots constanly leaving the gundams in the middle of battles for no reason at all), cheap drama, some horrible characters, and so. Still, it's the best one of the UC gundam series.
After that comes ZZ (childish and horrible anime), then the movie (OK i guess), and finally victory gundam (which bores me so much that i haven't been able to finish).
So in general, I wouldn't really recommend watching the UC animes. Problem is, the series of OVA's that happen in UC, are all fantastic. There are 4 ova series (the last one being UNICORN, ongoing, one of the best produced animes ever, and so far a masterpiece). And to fully apreciate them, you need some basic knowledge. But for this case i guess you could google.

Did you bother to read his post? Anything after 2000. Every one you listed is pre2000. With the exception of Unicorn. As a "fan" this is something you should know.

No older than year 2000? Then you'll missed out some of the great series in Gundam history. Anyway, here's my opinion about the newer series:

-) Gundam Seed: "Re-installment" of the first Gundam, but added with extra romance. Also I kinda dislike the Beam Spamming that occurs in the last 1/2 half of the story.

-) Seed Destiny: Pure trash, don't bother watch it...

-) Gundam Zeta Movie Trilogy: MUST watch. One of Gundam's best story that being remake with new scenes and a new ending that differs from the original.

-) Gundam Stargazer: Short and simple, but it was good. And it's WAY better than Destiny.

-) MS IgLOO: 3d animation series. Some were good, and some were ok. This could be an option if you want to see something different.

-) Gundam 00: 1st season was good, but 2nd season were kinda rushed. And they repeat the Seed "mistakes" (beam-spamming and Lazors all over the place).

-) Gundam 00 movie: Humans vs Aliens... Lolwut? Once I heard the story, I instantly dropped this from my watch list.

-) Gundam Unicorn: Great series with superb animation, and a must see. But you MUST watch the older series (which is the UC era Gundams from the 1980's) in order to fully understand the story.

-) Gundam AGE: Leave this to the new fans... Oh wait...
