Monitor: NEC-AccuSync 70.
Speakers: (HD)- CamBridge SoundWorks.
OS: Windows XP with Service Pack 3
Media Player: Media player classic with Windows Essential Codec Pack.
Ripp everything... dvd's and blu rays and then convert them to play on my apple tv in the living room, all well organized with itunes and 5.1 compatible.
I also have a cheap setup, but it runs 1080p stuff just fine.
TV: LCD Medion 42" 1080p fullHD
Laptop: Asus F5: intel c2d, 4gb RAM, ati M HD3400, connected with HDMI to DVI
Speakers: random Genius, with wooden casing
OS: Win7 X64 ultimate
Player: MPC home cinema x64, with FFDshow and CoreAVC HD codec(this one is essential for playing 1080p stuff smoothly)

I work from home and have a pretty large and fairly sophisticated network with 5TB of storage. I convert everything to live on my storage system and use a media server (with 1TB hard drive) to play through my HDTV and sound systems.
