I've been puzzling myself lately on how such a series could get adapted to a Japanese anime, think about it for a moment.
A protagonist that starts off weak, and then gets progressively stronger as he uncovers who he truly is. In which it will mixture both side stories and the main quest, to provide a moderate pace. As antagonist they could either follow one of the games plots or go original, and create a different story in relevance with a daedric prince.

Obviously I know an anime based off TES will never happen, but I just wanted to assume as it seems really interesting. I would gladly like to hear your thoughts on how such an anime would succeed or fail.

I have played Morrowind, Oblivion and now Skyrim and I think that it wont work for the following reasons:

1. The Main character has no name
2. There are no really memorable people that travel with the main character so him/her travelling alone would be kinda boring.
3. I don't think Bethesda will allow a company to make an anime based on TES if it isn't of a really good quality because if it isn't, it will ruin the serie's reputation.

1 Which is what works, they can assign whichever name they like, relevant to the plot of course.
2 Again basing this off the game, a creative group can be created that help the protagonist and add flavor towards story progression. There weren't any permanent companions in the game because it would drag gameplay, and unbalance the rpg setting, also more work for the devs.
3 I already know such an anime will never be realized, although I was assuming what it would be like.

The TES games have one goal in mind, which is portraying the hero that saved Tamriel/completion of the main quest, everything else is irrelevant. They never give any detailed background on such characters as they let the viewers, interpret the characters into they're own playthroughs. So basically, as long as the anime stays true to the main quest there could be an infinite amount of companions, or whatever.

It's a bad idea... The TES games have all very basic storyline, no memorable places, characters and design. The plot in TES is nearly irrelevant. In fact, even if you remove the main quest, TES are still great games.

TES are great games because they are sandbox games, but sandbox games don't make great stories.

I would rather have a baldur's gate anime, at least you have a cast and a relevant storyline
