Default Bounen no xamdou - 02-05-2009, 08:32 PM

Oh well. I just finished watching it. I can't help but to feel really disapointed with the whole ending of the series. The anime had a pace for 24 episodes, kind of slow, filled with small details and emotions, and in episode 25 they concentred more info that in the rest of the series all together.
All the important things of the story were shown in a way that made really hard to understand while you were watching, lacked the emotional intensity and detail that all the other episodes had, and left many other things without explanation... or at least without a proper one.
Following the pace of the rest of the series they should have spents like 10 episodes in order to do episode 25. But even if that was impossible, it would have been better if they have decided to leave things like midori's story and nakiami's sister's story, that in the end weren't important at all, and started explaining everything about sannova and the emperor, leaving only a few important details to the last episodes. And because they used all the time for explantions, they didn't really have much time to show as much action as we all expected.

Also, the characters, that are one of the best ever seing in anime, started having a lot of depth, but in the end their development came to a sudden and not very satisfiying end, except for the main 3. The crew members, nakiami's sister, the bad military guy, sannova and co, yango, issu and rangou... all of them were showned in detail, but in the end they didn't have much of a good final development.

All of this make me feel like this anime would have been much better if they had at least 13 more episodes... and even a whole 26 episodes 2nd season. And if that wasn't possible, they should have started making the pace faster after the first half.

That's basically all I don't like about this anime. All the rest, it's perfect. It's the best produced anime series by a mile, the story and characters were great, the drama moments were fantastic... with a better ending this would have become my all time favorite anime. I guess eureka 7 is gonna stay as my number 1 for a while longer.

I have yet to watch the last episode but will watch it later. I know the series is over but I have enjoyed every last moment of it especially seeing the Xam'd in action. the animation has taken me by a lot.

I just finished watching this series and true, there were a few gaps in the plot as well as some of the character's stories weren't explained enough in detail. Instead, the plot changed focus on Sannova, which left all the other stories such as Nakiami's sister arc not so important as to Lady Sannova changing the world.

Well, I guess im a bit lazy to say anything else and I would agree that the characters have developed well throughout the series but some were a bit disappointing and not so interesting for me in the end such as Yango. As for Akiyuki, Nakiami and Haru, they developed fine throughout the series.

well all in all 8.5/10. Ending could have been better and some characters did need more character development and explaining throughout the series. Still liked it though

Finally got around watching this. I was really impressed. Far better than most anime out there, but like already mentioned some characters could have been better developed if there had been more eps or if the pace had been quicker. I loved the OP and ED. Definitely on my favorites list.

I don't think character development was a big problem, but the slow pacing kind of killed the excitement. The voice acting was superb though.

I know this is an ancient thread, but still:

Xam'd: Lost Memories/Bounen no Xam'dou was originally planned to be a 51 episode series. They were well into production before being informed that they would not be receiving the necessary funding to go the whole 51. Not coincidentally, this was around the halfway point of the series. They still tried to execute the entire plotline as originally planned, but due to pacing issues ended up with a rushed Gainax-ish ending.

Xam'd could have been an all-time great with a full run. Instead, it goes down as nothing more than a very well-animated, well-acted and well-scored curiosity.

Seriously, the first few episodes were nearly theatrical quality.

I didn't know that, no wonder it gave a rushed-feeling. This could have been a masterpiece if you ask me. It was still an excellent anime though.

I don't know. If it was a 51 episode, then I feel like there were going to be a lot of filler episodes. I think the anime as it stands is pretty tight, and I didn't feel it being too rushed. In any case, I loved the show

true, some episodes in eureka7 were kinda unnecessary and xamd would probably have turned out the same way. Still wish they had made it into a 30 ep anime though
