The original, Z, ZZ. All three are must watch. If it bores you, try to at least watch up to Zeta. Plus, you will get to see how OP'ed some of these pilots are compared to the rest of the series =D

Seed/Destiny/Wing/00, it's totally up to you. It's either Hate it or love it, or bare through the series.

Yeah, 00's ending is like... plain. but it's ok, there's a movie coming that i hope will be the real ending...

Gundam 00 is incredible too. It's not only about graphics, it has an inteligent story (except the end, but all of the rest of the series really keeps you hanged on what's going to happen), great characters, good ost, and amazing direction (the drama scenes are simply incredible). For me, the best gundam so far, although close to seed.

I wouldn't recommend watching the first gundam: MS gundam 0079. But instead, if you to want to know what happens in it and understand the gundam world (only for the older series, since all the new series, like wing, seed and 00 have their own paralel universe), there are also 3 movies that resume everything, making it way easier to watch.

After watching the 3 movies, you can watch the 3 series of ovas: 8th ms team, war in a pocket, and stardust operation, which are all good, and really worth wathcing.

Haven't seen wing, but i'll start it soon.

Finally, there's Zeta Gundam, the sequel to the first series. It's said to be the best one in term of story... but from what i've heard from a lot of friends, the production, characters and direction is too bad to make it enjoyable.

SEED and SEED DESTINY is just Mobile Suit Gundam 0079(the original Gundam) and Zeta (the sequel to 0079) repackaged... I mean, you switch Newtypes with Coordinators/ Artificial Newtypes with whatever the hell those drugged-up psycho naturals were called and you basically have the same damn series... But it was at least prettier...

Gundam 00 started off as a Gundam Wing redo but at least it took more strives toward being more original...

Char's Counter Attack is still the best damn Gundam movie to date... I still believe you survived Amuro T-T

I know. Seed is actually a remake of the first series, with a lot of changes of course. I first saw SEED and then when I watched 9979 I was surprised when I realized that seed was based on it. And as I said, I haven't seen zeta, so no idea about it. But seed is not just pretier, it has the best ost ever and good direction, something you won't find in 0079 (not because it was a bad project, but because it's 30 years old).
0079 might be bigger as a classic, looking at how much it changed the anime world, at how good it was back then. But compared to today's standards... well, it's no good. I actually had to make an effort to watch it. The ovas are a diferent story, and even today they remain being really good.

The Gundam series is a love it or hate it series. If you avoid mecha series in general then you should really move along. But if you just avoid the Gundam Series I recommend trying either the recent 00 series or Wing series to see if your into it.

Actually, the Japs not hating Wings. I think they hate Victory Gundam more. And then there's an unpopular project called Gundam X. Just 38-40 episodes only I think.
