Since the new program list is out for Summer '09, containing the names of most of the animé we will all be watching this season, I thought I might bring another to your attention, as it might well go un-noticed by many.

Synopsis:
The story is set in an alternate world called Geminar, where countries have fought endless wars with replicas of humanoid Seikishi weapons that they found in ancient ruins. 15-year-old Kenshi Masaki, the half-brother of Tenchi Muyo! protagonist Tenchi Masaki, is summoned from another world to Geminar.


The first episode of this has already been released by Sora Fansubs. I had low expectations of this new series, as I had with all of the others of the Tenchi! ilk, but I have to say, this one is quite good. Don't be put off by the rather dreary blurb above, or the fact that it's related to Tenchi! Muyo in any way; this series does actually have a semblance of a plot. The animation is pretty good, too. Plus, despite the 13 episode series, each one is 51 minutes long! The downside to this, however, is that it will probably take a year for this to finish airing.

Give it a try. Episodes 2+3 are available raw, if you are able and interested.

Sora have subbed the first ep. They will sub the rest as and when they come out and they can be bothered.

If this show picks up popularity, however, it is always possible that another group may take it on.

Does anyone know what does "monogatari" mean? I see it often in names of animes.

Monogatari (物語?) is a literary form in traditional Japanese literature, an extended prose narrative tale comparable to the epic. It is closely tied to aspect of the oral tradition, and almost always relates a fictional or fictionalized story, even when retelling a historical event. Many of the great works of Japanese fiction, such as the Genji monogatari and the Heike monogatari are in this monogatari form.
The form was prominent around the 9th to 15th centuries, reaching a peak between the 10th and 11th centuries. According to the Fūyō Wakashū (1271), there were at least 198 monogatari in existence by the 13th century. Of these, around forty are still extant.

So 150 were lost? That's bad...
