A NisiOisin Anime Project announcement event at Tokyo's Nicofarre hall revealed on Thursday that a television anime series adaptation of NisiOisin's Nisemonogatari novel has been green-lit to premiere in January. The novel is the latest by NisiOisin to get an anime.

The story is set in the early 21st century as a sequel to another NisiOisin story, Bakemonogatari, and it centers around the "Fire Sisters" Tsukihi and Karen Araragi.

The publisher Kodansha, the production company Aniplex, and the anime studio SHAFT are collaborating on the new anime. Akiyuki Shinbo (Bakemonogatari, Puella Magi Madoka Magica) is directing, and Akio Watanabe (Bakemonogatari, The World God Only Knows) is designing the characters.

The official website has opened with the first trailer.

The event also announced that a Song & Soundtrack Collection and a Blu-ray Disc Box for Bakemonogatari will ship in Japan on December 21.

I have no doubt it will be worth watching as all NisiOisiN are. But the Fire Sisters? Although it's certainly true that I would have liked to see more regarding the Fire Sisters. I just would have liked them incorporated into a second season of Bakemonogatari. Though with NisiOisiN style it may turn out to be just that. I think those looking for a Senjōgahara fix (me included), will be disappointed.

To be honest I expected a new story going in a new direction. But I really thought it would involve Meme Oshino. For me this route holds the most interest.

The trailer and doesn't reveal much in the way of plot or content.

It is basically a second season of Bakemonogatari. They're just following the light novels and the fire sisters arc is the next one in line. I don't think Senjougahara will be totally out of the picture though. She will most likely make appearances.

As for Oshino there hasn't been any story focusing on him so you'll have to keep waiting.

On another note: Why did they cut Senjougahara's hair!?

Yes you may be right in regards to this being a second season. However a second season and a separate arc can be quite different. Especially when it's one of NisiOisiN's works. But I don't think there is anything wrong with an arc as opposed to a classical "second season". My only hope is that the arc's time advances the story instead of running parallel to Bakemonogatari as some arc's do

I am curious if you know which novel the Fire Sister's arc is from. Or is it an arc contained in Bakemonogatari.

As for a story revolving around Meme Oshino I know it would be a long wait since there isn't any light novel's with him as the main character in the Monogatari Series. At least that I am aware of. Although he does share the lead in Kizumonogatari. I think he also plays a bigger part in Nekomonogatari which takes place between Kizumonogatari and Bakemonogatari.

I wish more of Nisio Isin's light novels were available translated to English.
