I would not suggest watching the original, but some great ones were:

Turn - A Gundam
Ms Igloo - A CG movie/ova series about the one year war. Good CG effects
Char's Counter Attack is also awesome

As for Unicorn Gundam's Hi-Tech ness, It should be somewhere near 00. The Gundam that I posted a pic of opens up into an over drive like state. That only happens apparently in "bad" situations and lasts a short period of time.

Oh, and here is the Gundam's enemy, a later version of Sazabi basically, also piloted by a Char like character:

I think that unit was more or less based on Char's Sazabi from Char's Counter Attack.

As for Turn A, the Gundam was ugly, but the storyline was pretty interesting. Considering it basically foretells the future of the U.C. timeline.

I didn't like the hair-gundam in OO. Besides, they said that it was not the moment to expose that unit, but in the end they did not use its special abilities in anything planned so... anyways that's off topic. lol

Two large spike like metal objects coming from the mouth area. It's not like it is hair, those things look similar to the spikes coming out of the forehead of regular gundams.
