Unhappy Stunning News: MM! Light Novel Author Matsuno Akinari Passes Away - 04-26-2011, 03:10 PM

According to Media Factory, 「MM!」 light novel author Matsuno Akinari suddenly passed away on April 18th. There’s no official word on the exact cause of death as of yet. The MM! novel will be left unfinished.


Matsuno Akinari won the 1st MF Bunko J Light Novel New Author award for his debut series Aoba-kun to Uchuu-jin in 2005. Two years later he would release his second series 「MM!」 — with illustrations by QP:flapper. The light novel comedy would soon after receive both a manga and anime adaptation following its success.

The 10th and now last volume of the 「MM!」 light novel series was released on September 24th, 2010.

Real shock for me. I liked MM! a lot. Now there definitely won't be a second season.

There are actually 12 MM! novels (2 of them are side stories), I don't think that the anime covered everything so maybe there might be a second season. There might also be someone who will continue writing the novels, I don't know.

I hadnt been seeing this anime, however I see there are people who loved the work of this author and will be orphan for a while. So my condolences to all and mainly the family .
