There's a very stratified audience among people who watch anime anyway. The demographics are staggering really.. meaning a poll doesn't do any justice. I'd be interested in seeing the results of a well done survey.

It's NOT Sankaku - it's 2Chan. Anyone who knows Sankaku knows that it's leaders just post blerbs and cliff notes about whatever is popular or in debate over at 2chan or similar sites. Sankaku doesn't generate anything (minus it's forums which are a thicket of confusion) on it's own.
Sankaku is unique in that it's an english otaku site that reports on various otaku related news from other places that are often only in Japanese. It's real news and world events but it's more of a reflective experience. Sankaku is a "greatest hits" site - You only make news there if you are debate or traffic worthy. It's actually a smart concept to have a "readers digest" version of all the perverted happenings in Japan. ![]() |

I agree that some of this seasons anime are disappointing. However I find it impossible to believe that shows like Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai could be anything but disappointing.
Another problem is that some viewers forget they are watching anime. They have expectations of a work of art. Granted there are some anime that have the ability to transcend the role in which they are created to fill, such as Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop. But these are the exceptions. Learn to enjoy them for what they are and rejoice when something comes out that will become a classic. randall-san I think a poll would be meaningless. Most animators as well as production houses simply aren't interested in the demographics outside of Japan. What little interest there is in most cases is an afterthought. I can't make a top ten cause I actually like most of the shows this season. Only three disappointed me with their first episodes (A channel, Lotte and Hen Zemi)but I'll give them till episode 3. If I like them I might end up watching every show that came out.

I wasn't interested in a poll... and yeah I realize that an international survey is not likely, but I'd still be interested in seeing the results. My point was that individual taste in anime is so varied, that it's pointless to rank them with just votes. A survey that asks what country you're from, what age group you fit into, etc.. and then asks you to rate the anime you're watching this season... would be a more effective way of ranking anime.
