Talking What makes Rahxephon tick? - 04-15-2011, 04:49 PM

I watched the series eons ago and am pretty vague about the story right now but what isn't vague is that I felt that the animation was a huge waste of my time. The opener episodes were pretty good and interesting but halfway through everyone seems to suffer from dementia which spread like an epidemic for the rest of the series. I couldn't wrap my head around the confusing plot not to mention the ending which was utterly ridunkulous! Reset endings are cop out endings! And I totally hate them!

Now everyone says that the series was amazing, the characters, the storyline, the works. This makes me to believe that I MIGHT be misguided and MIGHT have missed (overlooked) something important that made the series a great experience. I'm giving you "guns" a chance to set me straight and show me the light.

Tell me guys, what makes Rahxephon tick?

I like to categorize Rahxephon as a bit of a knockoff of Evangelion. Partially the idea of the world ending and being recreated into its true and original form. What makes it different is that Rahxephon is based off of two peoples romantic feelings for each other. There is a bit of philosophy involved in this. Keep in mind that the dolems and Rahxephon themselves are loosely based off of the ideology of Gods. The dolems represent a symphony of gods. By using music, it follows up on the idea that they are retuning the world. I know its a bit complicated, but thats how I see it as. Overall though I did enjoy Rahxephon

Cheap knockoff of Evangelion you mean. There was a method of madness when the characters of Eva jumped to la la land. Their insanity was explained and reasonable, but in Rahxephon, the characters felt like they had already lost it, always mumbling random nonsensical shit most of the time. Mu? Blue Blood? What was the series trying to get at? What was its goal?

i wouldn t go that far. But the subtitles do make it even more difficult to fully appreciate this anime. I try to avoid watching animes like these with subs. Eva is completely different though. Its beserk and madness. Rahxephon is completely different in terms of categories. Like i ve said, the foundation is the basis of romanticism. Thats why the use of songs and music is key. The music in Rahxephon was so much better than Eva. Anyhow this is simply my opinion. I think it would help to understand the key aspects of this anime if you were fluent in japanese. but again i respect everyone s opinions. just personally i would put Rahxephon top 10 of my list of animes

I hate liver..........
Could someone here who likes liver tell me why so I can like it too?

Ever heard of abstract art? Some people are moved by certain paintings while others scratch their heads because they see something that others can't. Another simple example could be my own. I didn't use to like anime like xxxHolic because the characters have exaggeratedly lanky limbs but once I watched it, I loved it and understood that the art only complemented the story.

Liver is a consumable bro, if I can't eat it (because I find it distasteful) I just can't. But concepts can have various perspectives and perspectives can be changed if you use the correct choice of words to explain. Use a brain cell first then be a wiseass [lol].

RahXephon is just a cheap copy of Evangelion.

Oh, what's that? Rahxephon is unique because of it's religious underpinnings and the mecha being related to god? Kinda like how Evangleion used the themes of Lilith, rebirth, The Tree of Life, The Lance of Longinus, The Dead Sea Scrolls, Adam, Angels, The Three Magi, Eve was born from Adam's rib and the Evas were born from the first Angel named Adam, and the phrase "God's in his Heaven, all's right with the world"?

What again did Rahxephon do that made it so "great"?

would it help if I said that I am considerably fluent in Japanese to understand the nuances of various dialogues? And you have a point that its almost like a musical but that don't mean they have to make it so confusing. Hell, Ghost in the Shell was much easier to understand.

I gotta admit I totally agree with my buddy Cadet here but he ain't helping the cause only strengthening my original opinion. Glad to see someone on my side though, heh, heh .
