Sometimes it's getting better, sometimes not. The Shinsengumi's parts usually funny. The upcoming EP 86-87 (as i remeber) is especially not. This part was like a random j-drama, maybe you will: .

I get how you feel I too dropped Gintama multiple times before starting to love the anime .

I think it gets at its best in ep 50-65 you have watched that Benizakura Arc havent you , I found that pretty good !! though it defiantly gets better after ep 50 there is less of randomness and more of action , though I very much like the comedy parts too but if you like action you should continue after ep 60 too !!

Action EPs are often pretty boring from me in Gintama. The regular Gintama is comedy/parody not combat. Even after 2nd season's spring.

the first ep was really Awesome , first gintoki himself , then kagura , then the dog and those three , and then his sister and gorilla , and then kyubei with that touching "the thing " ,thing , and then zura Awesome Awesome Awesome , truly fulfilling all the expectations , truly the most awesome anime ever is Back !! so looking forward to the next ep !! btw they got 16:9 too ..........the best start for a season that can be possible !!
