Default My Thoughts on the BECK live action movie - 02-07-2011, 06:37 AM

BECK is my most favorite anime of all time, me being a guitarist love it. I have seen over 500+ anime and BECK will always be my favorite. so the movie...i thought it was really good except......i enjoyed seeing the thing where they blanked out all sound when koyuki sang...but they did it every time he sang so you neer heard the person playing the character koyuki, which brings us to my second thing, the reason for that is because this move was actually mostly based around ryusuke. which i hated cuz they kinda messed alot of stuff of because of that, i understand they were trying to keep it at like 2 hrs, but they could have fit some more stuff in there to keep it close to the story. I love the character koyuki more than ray but they showed off ray ALOT more. They took out alot of important things and chars, like saitou wasnt even that much of an influence, and there was nothing that had to do with his swimming, and Jim walsh wasnt even in the movie, and Maho's dream was to be a film director in the movie(i gathered that with my inference since i watched a raw and cant speak a lick of japanese), ugh all i wish for is the second season of BECK because3 the manga has about another 30 episodes or so in there and at least 1 ova

I hope it gets translated, I just finished watching the series and have to add it to my favorites, I do love how they pick up manga that are still running, turn then into anime and abandon them despite the popularity they have.

It was a crap movie. You wouldn't be able to understand it without watching the anime. I was expecting to hear Koyuki sing at the end but that didn't happen... I was looking forward to this movie, but its a disappointment. ):

i found a link for it if anyone wants it let me know, its a raw and quality is more like low res xvid cant find subs for it anywhere so will just have to wait

on another note @nmy i dont know how much you read into this movie but they said before production it will focus on ray and not koyuki as the main character, so calling that a disappointment shuld be short lived anyhow the cast looked awsome matching resemblence to the manga so i'll give my view once ive watched it

yes i did read up on it, i am aware that they said that, i, however think they should have left it to focusing on koyuki...@GhostOfNobody i have a perfect quality raw if u want
@genesis, yes i fully agree i hated the most that koyuki didnt sing! even at his last song"looking back" as they called it, they showd the subtitles he was singing but not his voice...but the weir thing was the last song,"Looking back", sounded exactly like a song my band and i made...which is weird

@Nominis yes i love that as well, like the manga has sooo much more to add to this great series...like a whole trip to america and back and stuff...hell the anime leaves off when koyuki is 17 and in the last manga chapter he is like 21...so i hope this movie means a second season

i really liked the movie even though i watched it in raw and my japanese is limited but cause im a huge fan of the manga/anime i knew what was going on anyway, i acknowledge the fact that they had to shove the content in to a 2hr frame slot so a lot of stuff got changed up, like the begining of the movie felt rushed up but thats a given the second half was much better and the ending really made it beck for me,

but the most anoying thing was that we didnt get to hear one full song from koyuki i understand that it was an artistic decision since his voice is supposed to be like mega awsome that it blows everyone away but blanking it out just got mega piss taking after it happened throughout the movie and i know this will ruin the movie for most people and cause it be seen as a flop and another thing i didnt like is that ryusuke gives koyuki his telecaster and that he doesnt choose it himself and that the parakeet lives at ryusuke's which is completely out of context, the mr saitou element was there but that was rushed all in all they did do a decent job trying to incorporate all the elements of the manga into it so it was a decent adpatation but obiviously improvements could have been made like making it 3hrs so it didnt feel rushed, the ending of film was open ended and inconclusive they could make a sequel but i highly doubt it, i watched it raw so maybe watching with proper subs will make it a different experience.
Also an very important note i hate it when japanese people force american accents its sounds so stupid!

yeah i know that his voice should be like super awsome so that's maybe why they didn't added it so it doesn't disappoint the watchers if the voice is not up to their expectations, but let's face it... i liked his voice in the anime but it was far away from perfect,i think they could have found someone with a decent singing voice here....
when he sang to maho and at Dybre it was ok that they hid it it was building up the tension and the effects were nice , it would have been ok if he would have sing just at GGGS5 i think

but do you think there is a chance of BECK:MCS season 2 after this ? it would be badass

yea thats what i mean, if they blanked out his voice the whole way, but only showed it a GGS than i would have been fine, Ghost i fully agree with you, but you got to remember we are american, they are japaneese, the stuff we hate to see in animes i.e.(fillers, redundant anime genres, guys scared to kiss hot females,OH AND DONT GET ME STARTED FROM DUDES RUNNING AWAY FROM SEX with the hottest looking girl in miles*cough*kanokon*cough*) they love
