before cartoon network came along we had to rely on the sci fi channel to play anime, which were usually adult oriented, as well as HBO. Once in a while walt disney channel would play some of the anime's that they helped sponsor. But nowadays, it's mostly cartoon network that plays anime. But you can also purchase an anime channel depending on ur network provider.

The only thing that sucks about the anime channels is that it's all aired dubbed.

Well, for Tv-anime, America have far more options than there in Finland. Even most of streamed episodes aren't avaible here, for example CR, Funi channel etc. As for TV, some anime series were aired, but they were mainstream (FMA, Evangelion etc.) You americans should be grateful even having some channels which air anime.

I second that. I don't even have the option for a channel like that. I should be glad if I can watch Pokémon here...

Apart from the usual kids orientated stuff like Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh etc there's not much at all in the UK, at least on standard terrestrial TV. Channel 4 used to air Fist of the North Star way way back when and have also put stuff like Blood: The Last Vampire, Akira and Ghost in the Shell on but these are pretty much cult classics and were all dubbed.

There's just a different culture and mindset, you can easily disregard anything drawn as a "kid's cartoon" and therefore there won't be many who will watch it. With few people watching, the channel rating goes down so they don't bother putting any anime on, even extremely mainstream/popular stuff like Fullmetal Alchemist.
