Default History lesson in ancient anime. - 12-31-2010, 03:52 AM

Do not know why this was moved to another old school thread.
perhaps I should have said ancient anime instead of old school. Because there is no way under heaven that this could be in the same "old school" as Cowboy bebop. Or any other anime listed in that thread.

So leave it where it's at or delete it.
Thought I'd share a small taste of some old school anime that I remember as a very young child. This was great shit at the time. The only other thing on was......wait never mind you don't want to know. Ok I'll tell it was My Three Sons. God I hated that show. Where was Hannibal Lecter when you need him.....

Although there was a show I remember watching around the same time as this. It was about a boy a boomerang (he could throw it underwater), and his dolphin. That just gets me right here every time I think of all those dolphins they slaughter in Japan. Funny thing was I dam sure it was an anime but I just has never been able to find anything about it.

This is Dororo, color version. Off shoots from this were Sgt. Frog and Black Jack.
Released by Osamu Tezuka, same guy who did Astro Boy. He is one of the most prolific manga writer ever with over 700 to his credit. This was also named as one of the "World Masterpiece Theater" series.

When you think about all the legends that make up the Japanese culture it's no wonder so many original stories come from there. Granted places like the US have as many but we kind of killed them off with the flea infested blankets we so generously handed out to the local populace. The Indians.

We have come a long way with anime while entities like Disney seemed to stand still throughout the 60's 70's and most of the 80's. God knows what will happen in July when the recent ban on certain anime takes effect. Enjoy your shows while you can kids.
