Just watched the movie and I gotta say that I was underwhelmed.
It was the same thing all over again. Just like how the Ishvalans wanted their land back -- here the people of Milos want to reclaim their land back from Cretanians.
Julia Crichton is misguided, but all the same, she's a badass babe
Again the land of Milos is used as some huge transmutation circle to create the philosopher's stone for pretty much the same purpose the Father wanted to from Brotherhood.
Also, its the same pattern with the siblings Crichton and Voyager as well. Its just the similarly designed plot equivalent of the series -- the only difference being this movie has new characters with their own reasons.
After the first shocking twist I could pretty much guess the second one, or rather, it would become obvious to everyone who's watched the series.
The fights were pretty awesome. Julia, despite being deluded was a badass beauty in her own right. Mustang didn't get to do much and the same could be said for Winry even though the latter's presence was a requirement.
The story and pacing were really well done and the characters were also nicely fleshed out but the sibling premise and the same old "Lets take back what's ours" theme copied from the series prevents it from reaching far.
The ending was also a but of a letdown as if all the steam that was built up to the end just ran out in the blink of an eye.
But I guess the biggest gripe I had was the bloody hairstyles. Why did they have to blunt the pointy edges of everyone's hairstyles?! It was so distracting and distasteful.
