Default Fate/Unlimited blade works - 10-13-2010, 05:32 PM

Haven't actually seen this yet (still in the process of downloading) but i'm really eager to watch the "route" of fate/stay night
What opinions do you guys have of this?

And for those who are oblivious to this, grab at unlimited translation works (google it)

I watched, loved it, and downloaded it in mkv 720p myself. While it does a decent job at translating the archer path, it did still lack some certain umph as far as I was concerned. If you have not read up, played, or know anything else other then it is a route, I suggest you play the VN (it's quite superb.) Type Moon knows VNs, but somehow their translations always lose a certain something sadly.

As for the fight scenes, it was animated beautifully, and I have to admit archer's path is certainly a deal more GAR then say saber's, mainly because I love unlimited blade works more then her noble phantasm/reality marble (golden theatre is pretty cool, but come - unlimited blades everywhere is pretty awesome.)

Anyways, I hope they do more paths in movie form. It didn't disappoint me.

I`ve seen it several times so far although many ppl I had that pleasure to talk with about were complaining about it a little (yeh yeh arc arc lol). I was pretty much amazed (maybe when compared to standard FSN I was watching UBW in hd no idea though)
But I`m playing fsn now to find out how much they discarded in the movie

While they did lose a bit in translation, it's still ten times better then the anime series itself, I think. If they'd animate all the arcs like movies, Type-Moon would probably get a good boost just from revenues of theater sales.

Now all we need is Heaven's Feel. Shiro + Garcher's arm = lol.

Movie is fine, but much much much shorter then I expected it to be. I liked the fights, but the rest was like there wasn't anything there, it's cutted too much. I hope there will be Heaven's Feel, but not movie.

btw.: I have played VN before watching movie.

I have read quite a few opinions/reviews of the movie and most hammer it for all the missing material from the V/N. Most state that if you did not go through the V/N you will be lost. BULLSHIT. I did not go through V/N and grasp everything in the movie just fine. Yes I did watch the anime but to be honest the only episode that has reference to UBW is ep. 14 during Archer's fight with Berzerker.

( Click to show/hide )
From that I was able to deduce who Ilya was and how Archer knew her in ep 14. Not to mention the flash back of Emiya and Tosaka where Archer says "I thought I was done with all that" during the same episode. Plus the appearance of the pendent at the end of ep 14 when Archer disappears. Put that with the comment made by Ilya after the first fight with Berzerker when Ilya says see you again onee-chan to Emiya and you can figure out the relationship between everyone.

I have watched the movie a few times now and have enjoyed it thoroughly.

I would recommend the anime first though. as it will lay the ground work for the Holy Grail war and it's purpose.
