Shojo Romance Vs Shonen Romance which do you think is better?

they are both very different especially cause they come from 2 different narrative points of view shojo always has a female protagonist and shonen always has a male protagonist. Being a male i prefer shonen for obivious reasons i empathise with the character more, there are hot girls, a harem of girls for the protagonist to choose etc but shonen romance mangas are highly unrealistic and after a while boring (well they will always entertain lonely japanese otaku).
Since we all know in the real world girls dont like nice, ball-less, nerdy and shy dudes so this is where shojo is superior cause it is more realistic coming from a girls point view (cause lets face it no one cares about a guys feelings). All girls are attracted to bad-ass pretty boys, science even proves it and in the typical of shojo you have a quiet and shy girl protagonist who is quite pretty, fall in love with a pretty-boy-bad ass/ or the most popular dude in school who seems out of her league, then the love story will unfold the pretty-boy may fool around with other 'prettier girls' or other girls will come after him shit will happen as it does, people will cry blah blah, eventually the pretty-boy will come to like the shy girl and its all happily ever after, this is in my opinion is highly realistic cause it happens a lot in real life good girls turn bad cause of the bad boys they fall in love with/ chase after, or they stay good but theyre with a dick so theyre not innocent good girls anymore anyway i'll leave to your own opinions, as a nerdy-dude myself it really pisses me off when these kinds of things happen in real life or fiction but thats just the way the world is isn't it?

well, i must agree that shoujo mangas are more realistic and shounen mangas are crap and very very unrealistic but i still don't like shoujo manga because i'm a guy and in shoujo manga the perfect or bad-ass guy get everything, i prefer romance with good story rather than stupid girl perspective. you know man are dumber than girl but that doesn't mean girl doesn't stupid about choosing man, you can see in real life a lot of girl made wrong decision and they lost their virginity on the other hand guy can make a mistake but learn from it and move on, so you can see girl are as disadvantage. for me i'm in medical school and being a silence-typed but not a nerdy i just don't talk much and i would like a virginity girl not some second hand girl but face the reality guy,virgin girl always stupid and the good one always a second hand girl. so that why it pisses me off.

well, in my perspective i think we shouldn't bother doing this poll since i think majority of a guy here will definitely go for shonen while chick will chose shoujo. Therefore, there aren't really much of a survey here.

I am guy and to me shoujo are better than shonen...Shoujo romances are mosty comedy and slice of life animes and are funny to watch while on another hand shonen have heroines with ultra large boobs who are waiting overpowered and gay main characters to rescue them

I don't mind either genre... As long as the shoujo/shounen manga/anime doesn't have a very very bad ending like someone dies or something along that line... Or the storyline doesn't become boring nor stupid then both genre is okay with me

I Totally Agree With That. As Long As The Storyline Is Fresh Or Done Well I Really Could Careless Which Genre It Is...But For The Sake Of This Poll I Suppose I Do Find Myself Going A Bit More To The Shoujo Side...

Anyway back on topic:

I'm a straight guy and I do read a lot of shoujo romance manga, and in my opinion they are definitely better than shounen romance. There are only a few decent shounen romance manga/anime that feature a non-douche male protagonist (Clannad comes to mind.) The rest are all unrealistic comedy/harems... which can be good mind-you, but not for romance.

Shoujo protagonists are just a lot more interesting to me, and they usually have a very developed character and personally vs. a typical generic brown haired guy found in shounen. Although, I can say that I'm not a fan of the shirtless guy fanservice found in shoujo's; that's pretty gay.

well, maybe.... there are a couple of good shounen romance mangas out there, but sadly the majority is really from the fanservice/harem kind. well, my biggest problem with shoujo, is that the drawings are quite... well, i dont really like them. (altough there are some shoujo romance mangas that i'm reading/read, and had a good drawings, for eg. Special A, or Kaichou wa Maid sama)

my second problem with shoujo, is that in them (someone abouve already wrote it though), we mainly can see things through the girls perspective, and i can't really identify myself with them.
