Rebuild series? There have already been a couple. Although this has mainly focused on straightening out the convoluted ending. All except for the current attempt at a "Rebuild".
This is in the form of several movies. So far only the first two chapters have been released. These include Evangelion_1.11_You_Are_(Not)_Alone released in 2009 and Evangelion 2.22 - You Can (Not) Advance released earlier this year.

The link you posted is in regards to the live action movie. Technically this is not a rebuild.
Also it is only in development, which means it could fall flat on it's face at anytime.

Oh I know why I didn't remember about this... it's because they have announced it in 2003.

since adv's gone bankrupt the live-action project is at a standstill so its pretty much dead which is a great thing even though they could make the evangelions look really cool with CG the rest of the film would be utter crap

They did have some nice concept art though.

Although in these they looked a lot older than they should be xD

This is true. In fact I believe it has been canceled and resurrected a couple times. It is most likely dead at this point.

Also GhostofNody has a very valid point. There is just no way a live action Eva could do it justice. Those that love Evangelion love it because it's an incredible, albeit flawed anime. Key word is ANIME. Frankly a live action version would ruin the story for me.

Yep i think it would look like a spin off of Transformers if it were live action. I agree the CG on the EVA's would be awesome but the characters would not be same as the anime.

im pretty sure they were all ready to start filming, then they heard the first transformer movie was in production and decided 2 giant robot movies around the same time would probably not make much money so they "put it on hold". Then other shit happened and it is now dead.
