I like it, I wouldn't use a border or downsize the render.
Looks like youre character is in the backdrop, that it's a real world and not a background. Which is what you're supposed to be trying to do.
The dimensions of the picture are odd though. The guy is clearly supposed to be the center object, but the frame is too large for him, or there's not enough of him in the frame. But then doing that also brings the background into the forefront of the picture, and makes it more tangible.
I think it's fine as is. Might look better if the dude was doing something with the gun.
