It’s just SO EPIC. Kinda reminds me of Eden Of The East, but a lot darker and a lot more serious.

Volture Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 12:52 pm

This is more epic than Eden imo.

sscloud Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 1:19 pm

@ LenaleeMelodee – tell me you’re joking…this sodomises Eden of the East…Eden has a fantastic concept and first 2 episodes and plummeted horribly afterwards…Darker than Black is FAR better…

Booyadude Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 1:25 pm

sscloud: lol’d, gb2bleach

sscloud Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 1:31 pm

@ Booyadude – …??? whats bleach got to do with anything…?

Booyadude Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 1:36 pm

sscloud: I was pointing out the hilarity I find in you attempting to bash a good show like EotE while watching something like Bleach.

Volture Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 1:38 pm

Go Booya!

sscloud Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 1:44 pm

Tbh I bash bleach all the time…you must’ve read half of my posts. Besides Eden of the East started very well, but honestly speaking the liberal, and lets face it stupid, use of the word johnny and rapid decline of the story killed it for me.

I watched both bleach, and EtoE for different reasons. No-one who’s sane watches bleach for a story it hasn’t got one, whereas that was the draw with EotE.

Let me ask this then Booya, do you think the EotE series did justice to the intriguing premise? What was actually accomplished at the end of it? Something that could’ve very comfortably been done in 3 episodes. I don’t personally think the show realised the potential it had, whereas DTB has a good mix of both action and story and IMO is far better for it.

LenaleeMelodee Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 2:32 pm

I love both Eden Of The East and Darker Than Black. Gotta wait for two Eaden Of The East movies, but I’d say EOtE is a bit better.
EOtE’s concept is superb. Period.

Maybe less action, but I don’ need action to love the show. I love it when it’s more intriguing. And in DtB it’s like two eps for each story (first season). It started this way and continued. A bit disappointing.
And Hei’s kinda waaay too emotionless (he still pwns anyway)

Talking about the potential, I could say the same about DtB. They could make a lot better story, like, show more of those gates.. I dunno, a lot of stuff, so many possible good storylines.

kaiten Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 2:34 pm

Not a very friendly board is it? Either way DTB is awesome. I don’t see why Booyadude felt the need to mention bleach and try to make a jibe at sscloud though, but it sounds like you guys have history.

ARTHURIUSS Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 2:42 pm

DTB 2 is everything Eden should have been! You could say it had a solid first season to have gotten there but 3 episodes in the atmosphere is way darker and the plot more mysterious than Eden ever was!
Now it could still degrade into a an ordinary show without having realised it’s full potential like I thought Eden did but one can always hope it won’t.
The same can be said of Eden.It still has the upcoming movies to redeem it!

sscloud Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 2:42 pm

@ Lenalee – Thats cool. My bad. I didn’t mean to come across as a jerk. I like EotE but it didn’t live up to my expectations. Completely agree that the concept is superb, but i think they couldn’t make a proper plot out of it and started adding weird johnny related references to everything. It just became daft after a bit. DTB for me edges it out because I’m a sucker for shows that focus on developing plot through its characters rather than the other way round.

BTW Kaiten, I don’t personally have any history with Booya, so we disagree about something, doesn’t mean anything except that.

LenaleeMelodee Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 3:02 pm

@ sscloud – haha, I’m fine, never thought there was an argument here ^^
The second season of DtB is of even more interest for me, since I’m Russian xD

On a sidenote: their choice of winter clothes is SO WRONG. Hell, we wear that in early fall.

Booyadude Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 3:04 pm

sscloud: Eden of the East started off very well, and has, so far, continued on as such. Contrary to what you seem to think, a show does not need to have fight scenes in every episode for it to be good. The flushing out of the characters, exploration of the setting, plot, and story, on top of the original intriguing premise, kept me entertained throughout. Also contrary to what you seem to think, the story is not finished, as there are still two movies coming up.

I have not watched DtB, seeing as I have not heard too many good things about it(particularly the ending of the first season), so I cannot judge it.

kaiten: Trolls trollin’ trolls.

ARTHURIUSS Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 3:21 pm

@Booya
This show is right up your alley and I think you in particular will enjoy it! Just give it a shot!
and also the first season had a kinda inconclusive ending which I remember produced endless rants but
that ending proves to be a pefect premise for this second season!
Surely this is not a show to be missed!

LenaleeMelodee Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 3:45 pm

Booya translated my thoughts into English. How sneaky =.=

@ Booya: btw, do you know if we’ll get the first movie subbed right after it’s released? Or it’s going to be the same as with Bleach movies?

Booyadude Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 3:52 pm

ARTHURIUSS: I had planned to try it when the Blu-Rays came out, but by the time THORA finishes, this season may well be over already, hahaha.

LenaleeMelodee: Would you really want to watch a camrip? I wouldn’t, and I think gg and/or other subbers would want to wait for the DVDs as well.

Toushirou Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 3:59 pm

second seasons seems to weird so far but i always wanted this show to continue gotta see a true ending lol

Arashi Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:03 pm

The first season was decent but not amazing, it didn’t have alot of action and focuses on the plot of the Syndicate’s members.

Well the first two episodes of Season 2 have been pretty good, nice action to start it off.

And EotE was good, but I felt disturbed at Jonny Chopping.

Volture Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:06 pm

Lol, if you felt disturbed by just that, don’t watch Elfen Lied, TOKKO or Claymore.

sscloud Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:15 pm

@ Booyadude – I never said it has to have action all the time, just that DtB has both so if the plot won’t engage you at least the action should. And like I said before, I appreciated from the outset that Eden is a different breed of animal to something like bleach, which needs fights to be remotely entertaining. In fact that why I watched it, because, perhaps contrary to how i’ve put myself across, I find a good story infinitely more entertaining that watch another typical shounen show.

Either way, it just looks like an agree to disagree moment, I personally think Eden should’ve been much better considering the premise, but I respect that you liked it as much as you did.

@ Volture – Agreed. Especially on elfen lied…that is one disturbing show…fantastic show, but very disturbing.

Booyadude Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:33 pm

sscloud: So it would seem, we appear to have nearly polar opposite tastes, seeing as I consider generic gore-fests like Elfen Lied, to be pretty bottom of the barrel.

sscloud Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:37 pm

Really? Wow. I don’t like for the gore, but I thought the story of persecution, though fairly typical, was well executed.

Incidently, what kind of shows do you like, just out of curiousity…Gankutsuou..?

Volture Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:39 pm

Mushishi yes?

sscloud Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:42 pm

mushishi is amazing…one of a kind show.

Booyadude Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:43 pm

^Mushishi, Princess Tutu, Cowboy Bebop, Kino no Tabi, and Welcome to the NHK are a few random favorites that come to mind.

sscloud Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 4:46 pm

I like all of those as well…so I don’t think we’re that far off on shows we like dude. But it sounds like you’re most into the subtle and sophisticated shows rather than more action orientated…fair play. Definitely watch Gankutsuou…that is really good…I think so anyway.

Booyadude Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 5:07 pm

I can enjoy an action show as well. For example, as (technically) bad as it was, Code Geass was still fun to watch. You’re certainly right in that my favorites are those like Mushishi, Kino no Tabi and such, though, so thanks for the Gankutsuou recommendation, it looks great!

sscloud Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 5:12 pm

^You’re welcome dude. It’s probably my favourite show ever. Mind you it does have some mecha moments, but it is epitome of class. Technically brilliant, Fantastic voice cast and one of the best stories ever.

Stix Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 8:53 pm

stupid small subs , i can’t see shit :D

HentaiKamen Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 8:55 pm

The reason why Darker than Black is really awesome is because even though it is so action packed, the action doesn’t negatively affect the plot or it’s progression.

Code Geass had good action, but plot wise it was a piece of shit.

Eden of the East falls short in both the action and the plot categories. It started okay, but it felt as if they were making the story up along the way. And they just kept on using that retarded ‘Johnny’ reference.

Elfen Lied had an interesting story but they went over the top with the gore-fest a bit. Some parts were pretty brutal.

HentaiKamen Says:
October 23rd, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Anyway, I would recommend Darker than Black season one to anyone (even those who apparently don’t like action) for it’s story.

Progression feels a bit slower than this season, because it had 26 episodes. So don’t be afraid action haters.

This season is probably so action packed because it is going to be shorter. In my opinion this season is even better than the last though.

Incredible action, characters and plot. Even though all these awesome contractors are getting killed there’s no shortage of other awesome ones. Still too bad for the magician…

NVSCorp Says:

Awesome episode, wow the first season was 2 episodes per story but it looks like this one will either be a 4 episode thing or the it will be a whole story instead of a few mini ones mixed together to form one.

HentaiKamen Says:
October 24th, 2009 at 9:05 am

This is probably going to be set as one big story since it will be around the events surrounding Suo.

Hei is more of a mentor this time around. In any case 12 episodes is too short for them to branch it into seperate missions/stories of 2 episodes.

They will probably leave the mini stories for the 4 OVAs after this ends.
