It can only be speculation and guessing. One would have to say though that Ichigo has perhaps the greatest potential considering he was never a shinigami, and was able to learn bankai in less than three days. Plus he's basically mastered the vaizard thing, so that automatically puts him ahead of a lot of the captains. Captains like Shunsui, who's supposed to be one of the most powerful captains (maybe even the strongest) has been a captain for over 100 years... he even made the comment that Toushirou was a genius, and prodigy captain.. but it would still take another 100 years before he surpassed him. Kenpachi is right there, considering he owned two captains at the same time- the blind guy and the one with the animal face. I can't think of either of their names. And of course there's Byakuya, who could be the strongest of them all sometime in the future.
