darkninja- during the arc when they “turned back the pendelum” showing how aizen became the weasel he is and the vaizard as captains, they show tessai and that big vaizard guy that has similar powers as orihime. Tessai was/is the man with kidou. It’s also why he got banned to the human world and lives with Urahara.

thatguy- I’ve read the manga up to what’s currently available(like 363 or something) and the anime, not counting the filler obviously, follows the manga VERY closely. To the degree that a lot of panels of the manga are exact shots in the anime. With that said, ALL the captains except Kenpachi have bankai. It’s just that they haven’t all used it yet… and the ones that haven’t YET have reasons for not using it.

and bankai is the most difficult thing for a shinigami to learn. How many different captains have there been in 100 years of soul society? If a bunch of people were learning it then it wouldn’t mean anything to be a captain. Ichigo is the exception for learning it, I don’t think Ikakku’s is that powerful, and Renji… well, his just sucks. It’s strange how at the end of the first season I used to think that Renji was a badass…

Ichigo got his bankai in 2 days and his ones the best, im not saying its the strongest yet but with more fights and training his bankai will be the strongest (thats cos it took the captains 10 years to achieve it and 100 to master theirs and ichigo hasnt even been a shinigami for 4 years)

i dont see him with a different bankai it wouldnt suit him.

and hes taken over by the hollow so when he comes back he needs to be stronger than the hollow (the hollow said who ever is stronger is controlling the others power) so i expect zangetsu to be back before the fight with aizen.

otaku- ahhh.. just read the latest manga. I agree, he COULD be… The only thing is that if he was, the numbers of the other espada would be wrong. All their ranks would have dropped one. But since Aizen’s a weasel… it could still be.

what do you guys think is going to happen in hueco mundo? I mean, there ARE still 4 captains just twiddling their thumbs over there… and Neliel is somewhere still.. Even with yammi’s secret I doubt they’d ALL fight him…

mauve- I’m not sure if I’m glad I read the manga, or if I regret it. My original intention was to read “just a couple” issues ahead of the anime to get a taste. Then I read every one available. But, in spite of knowing what happens when I’m watching an episode, it’s still wonderful. Animation is still better than still pictures. Color better than black and white. Voices better than text. And NOTHING can take the place of music. That’s one thing about the anime that’s stayed wonderful through the whole series. The music. Sagisu Shirou is a GENIUS.

Bleach is that REALLY REALLY hot girlfriend that keeps cheating on you…

I think Bleach should just stop now. The pitiful character development (seriously you can count the interesting characters on 1 hand, and you can count the characters developed even a little on other hand). The other thing with bleach is the characters with EXTREME fluctuations in their powers (the manga doesn’t even attempt to show any growth in most characters yet we’re meant to believe that they’re suddenly insanely strong when they were extremely weak before?) And what the hell is up with the line “I didn’t want to use this but…” then some crazy over the top special power that rapes everything in existence? I’m looking at you Soifon and Hitsugaya, and probably more that I’m forgetting.

It’s just become sad though. So much potential, wasted on what now is a shadow of great series bleach once was. Knock it all you want, but when push comes to shove Naruto has far more character development and story then bleach has ever had, and sadly, probably will ever have, and thus has far more longevity and entertainment value.

Can anybody explain why the common trend with these episodes lately seems to be 6 minutes of pure recap and just utter crap at the beginning and 5 minutes of credits and more useless crap at the end? It makes no sense at all. Are they running out of ideas that badly? It seems to me these episodes have really sucked hardcore lately, I must say that I am losing faith in this show. Cant wait to see my ten minutes of bleach next week…..

sscloud- soifon didn’t use her bankai because it’s a contradiction to what she is. She explained it. She an assassin, meaning stealth and speed. But her bankai is large, slow, and based soley on pure power. Shunsui hasn’t used his because according to Ukitake, it wouldn’t be safe in the area that they’re in, and convinced him not to use it.

And who are you referring to that was “extremely weak” but now “insanely strong”? Certainly you’re not talking about one of the captains because NONE of them are weak. And don’t you know that the most powerful people are the ones that don’t flaunt their power? They tend to be the ones that try to AVOID the fight.

Look at the mentalities of Shunsui and Espada #1. They both want to avoid fighting

@ the space cadet – Notice I didn’t bitch about anyone’s bankai, just the stupidity of “I didn’t want to use this power…” before using it to OHKO the enemy. My problem was extreme predictibility and the sheer stupidity of the show now. Also, funnily, her bankai being a contradiction is a contradiction to one of the established concepts in the show, where the Zanpakto (and also the bankai) are inherently based on their users personalities and strengths. Funny that isn’t it?

Rukia as one example of someone weak now stupidly strong. Little miss “oh my god its teh hollow = uber hard to kill” to being able to kill espada…go figure…even factoring in now she can use a sword, the show does little to explain how she became captain level all of a sudden. Also, funnily again, they mentioned how the espeada should be over captain level as well as they are vaste lord (which apparently are ubers) into arrancar…inconsistencies, anyone?

Either way whatever, we can just agree to disagree that bleach sucks and contradicts itself now.

It’s more than just simply the owner’s personality. Captain level shinigami choose the size of their own zanpaktou… it’s not a case of “you have a strong personality… here’s a large sword.” And it’s similar for their bankai. When Ichigo learned his bankai, he condensed it down into his sword to maximize speed. Some unknown force didn’t go “you’re impulsive… here’s your fast sword.”
And using Soifon as the example of your theory, her being an assassin doesn’t mean that’s HER PERSONALITY. In truth, what IS her personality? Strong, powerful, and to the point perhaps? How might that translate into her bankai? Hmmm?

Rukia was a wuss forever because of her being in her gigai in the human world for so long. She still had not recovered even after the soul society arc finished. It was stated that she COULD be a captain level shinigami at some point, but Byakuya didn’t want her being put in dangerous missions and pulled strings to keep her from eventually becoming a captain. And she beat the espada, not based off skill, but more of a cheap shot.. plus the fight itself was her fighting against an espada mimicing the behavior and skills of someone she knew and understood very well.

And the show explained that they THOUGHT the espada to be beyond the captain level. They never actually knew anything about them. They were estimating.

And regardless, what does it mean for a person to point out plot holes in an anime? Are you telling me Naruto is infallible? Do you think there’s a single anime in existance that DOESN’T have plot holes or inconsistancies or contradictions? I didnt think the show ever said anything about her being captain level strong or rather potentially but that she had the capabilities to be seated among the 13 teams as in lieutenant or 3rd seat. thebigr- it never said that she’s currently a captain level power… just that to make sure she wasn’t put in danger, byakuya made sure she didn’t start down the path of becoming a captain, because captains take on the most dangerous missions. If she was a wuss that had no captain potential, he wouldn’t have went out of his way to prevent it. Of all people, byakuya would know if rukia had potential to be captain level.
My main point is that she’s not actually a wuss, like how she was up to the arrancar arc, and how sscloud claimed she was. She was just weakened because of being in her gigai for so long and being prisoner in that tower. They explained all of this in the anime. And I pointed out that she beat that espada more from being sly, rather than being more powerful… which she isn’t.

killingspree- I’m not completely sure what you meant in your post…like when you said all got a bankai… but when byakuya said that about people learning bankai, he was refering to Ichigo, because he learned it in three days.

And I explained to sscloud why soifon hadn’t used her bankai, and apparently spoiled it for diveche. It’s fair game for a person watching to not like that a few people with bankai haven’t used it until recently, or in the VERY near future. Anyone that hid it or just hasn’t used it yet have all had valid reasons for it.

Ikkaku doesn’t want to be a captain because he wants to be under Kenpachi, and anyone with bankai will be pressured to be a captain.

Soifon and Shunsui haven’t used theirs yet for reasons that will be explained in the near future… after the filler and Ichigo/Ulquiorra fight.

Ukitake still hasn’t used his in the manga, but certainly will at some point. Neither has that female captain that specialized in healing people.. I can’t think of her name.
I can’t think of any other captains that haven’t used their bankai yet.

The other thing is that up until now, fighting the espada, there has been no reason for them to use their bankai. It’s not like their going to just whip it out to show people. They have to NEED to use it. All these final fights are pushing the vice captains and captains to the limit. That’s why we’re seeing abilities and weapons we have yet to see.

Killingspree- oh, and you couldn’t be more wrong about espadas being only at vice captain level.
The espadas subordinates, the faccion, are vice captain level. The espadas themselves are at least captain level… depending on the captain.
Enemies only at vice captain level wouldn’t push Kenpachi to fight without his eyepatch AND use two hands on his zanpaktou. Byakuya wouldn’t have to sever his nerves. Other captains wouldn’t finally have to use their bankai. Ichigo wouldn’t have to… oops! Almost spoiled it…

i am pretty sure unohana has used hers or at least it wasn’t shown as one when she had to heal people in the belly of the beast during the soul society arc i have a pretty good feeling that was her bankai to heal while the beast is able to fight

But they never showed her saying “bankai” and the captains all have special abilities besides their bankai… so I figured it was just her standard ablility as a captain…. like when Byakuya scatters his zanpaktou. You’d almost have to figure that Unohana is really strong, not just in healing, since she’s been a captain at LEAST as long as Shunsui… and from the indication of the current chapters of the manga, Shunsui is definately one of the most powerful captains.

Anyways, that could be her bankai. It’s hard to say. The only reason I think it MIGHT not be, is because they’ve never shown a captain (or other) using their bankai without first saying “bankai”

I think Unohana only used the shikai to heal, but not sure. Tou, you mean the time in soul society when she heals the vice captains ichi beats up before the byakuya figh, rightt?

Can’t really verify it but like space cadet said, her bankai is likely to be overkill considering she’s about as powerful as Shunsui (as indicated by that captain power guide which i can’t remember where I read :p)

BTW space cadet, technically, if memory serves correctly Rukia was mentioned to be strong enough to hold a seat, not necessarily a vice-captain or captain seat. Byakkun pulled strings to stop the potential of her ever getting close to Vice-captain to keep her safe. Though recently she seems to inexplicably gone from almost losing to a hollow at the beginning of the show to near enough vice-captain/captain level…

I personally don’t forsee ichigo using kidou ever. He’s more like Kenpachi… and I doubt we’ll ever see Ken saying “Way of the binding star #56!!!!”

sscloud- perhaps it was vice captain that Byakuya kept her from achieving. It was a LONG time ago that I saw that episode. But it was some form of captain regardless.

And if people are refering to the first couple episodes of the series back in season 1 when Rukia struggled some with hollows, it was because of her gigai. Plus, it wasn’t a normal gigai, she was carrying the hougyaku(however the hell you spell it) inside of her because of Urahara.
And if memory serves me right, Rukia jumped in front of Ichigo to save him as the hollow was attacking…. that would have been the ONLY time she was at full power. After that she transfered her shinigami powers to Ichigo, and had been running around for the rest of the season with severly limited powers. Then, as we all know, she was taken back to soul society and imprisoned in that tower, which continued to drain/supress her strength. She could still barely walk when Ichigo showed up on the bridge. And even though it’s filler, during the Bounto arc, she mentioned that she STILL hasn’t recovered.
It wasn’t until the Arrancar arc when she showed up with her pure white zanpaktou that she had regained her full powers.
I’d say she can fight on par with vice captains. Is someone going to say that Momo or Matsumodo is more powerful that Rukia? I don’t think they are.
And to mention it again, she fought with the espada because he was mimicing Kaien, and she beat it by surprising him when he thought she was basically dead.

SO…. this should put an end to the why was Rukia a wuss, now powerful debate. Because she sacrificed herself for Ichigo in the first episode, and FROM THEN UNTIL THE ARRANCAR ARC she never had her full powers.. or even CLOSE to her full powers.

Aizen mentioned in Hueco Mundo that he had twice the spiritual power of a captain.
I’d guess that Aizen is more powerful than the captain-commander.
And this is just a guess, but I’d say that Aizen is FAR more powerful than the captain-commander

pretty sure the only people that can stand upto aiezen are vizard types like ichigo

omg he has more spiritual powers than ichigo? i wonder how he became so powerful…..but guys u cant blame ichigo for being weaker than him i wonder how much stronger will he get if he trains like the rest of the death gods *like 50 years if he was dead*

dark- after the filler(and who knows how long this one will go) and they continue with the Ichigo/Ulquiorra fight, it’s a turning point. In ways, I regret having read the manga, but I simply could not stop reading the next issue until there were no more left. So when the fight plays out in the anime prepare to be floored.
I’ll just mention that the fight forces Ichigo to the next level. His bankai is nothing more than a child’s toy.

toushirou- I’m not sure if even vaizard can stand up to Aizen. I’d say te captain-commander could kick a vaizard’s ass, so Aizen could too. He mad them after all. And he made the espada. And he has 2 former captains(who are probably even more powerful now) serving him. None of the espada, past or present, and neither captain question Aizen’s authority. And it would have to be because they ALL know that Aizen’s power if beyond theirs. Even that pink haired espada that fought Captain Mayuri was pushed to the ground(and seemed frightened) by Aizen’s spiritual pressure… the way a rookie shinigami collapses to the floor in the presence of a captain.

i dunno hirako is the strongest of the vizards i think and he totally devistated grimjow without even breaking a sweat i am pretty sure none of the captains can compare to a vizards power as they break the lines that max their limitations aizen said the only way to be stronger than him is to break the hollow shinigami barrier which he did for the vizards so i am pretty sure they have a ace in the hole to fight with

Shinji never fought Grimmjow. When Ichigo and Grimmjow were fighting Shinji threw in an attack from off the screen when Grimmjow didn’t know he was there. Similar to what Rukia did before to him. She attacked him when he was already preoccupied with Ichigo.
Ichigo technically IS a vaizard, probably is on par with most of the other vaizards, stronger than some, and even in his vaizard state he barely beat Grimmjow.

Aizen and the captain-commander are just beyond anyone else. Remember when when Shunsui AND Ukitake, two the the strongest captains, were about to fight the commander? They both were saying best wishes to each other, were scared, and basically were like “Well, it was nice knowing you”

All either of us can do right now is speculate.
I still think one or more of the “good guys” are going to defect and become traitors. Because once the vaizard show up the numbers are lopsided. Plus Yourichi and Urahara still haven’t made an appearance, and they’re both top captain level. Plus, if the captains and Ichigo show up from Hueco Mundo, it will become even more lopsided. It literally would be like 5 to 1… SOMETHING has to happen to level the playing field.
I think Yourichi and Urahara are prime candidates to defect… especially since neither have made an appearance yet

Of course, Aizen could pull out some more creations from Hueco Mundo, but I don’t think they’d introduce more characters this point in the story

and there’s still Ichigo’s dad…

grimmjow had plenty of swipes at hirako before he decided to use his hallow mask and i hardly doubt urahara defecting as he was thrown outa soul society because of aizen i don’t think ichigos dad is gonna fight either that was more of just a taunting thing to throw around to say thats how ichigo does have his own powers and the way the manga seems to be going i am pretty sure the vizards are way stronger than any captain they got

hey guys how does the world of bleach work? does this sound like whats going…like for example 50 years from now ichigo dies, and then a soul reaper comes and takes his soul to soul Society,and then he becomes young again?

toush- I agree with all that. I was just putting ideas out there. And Ichigo is vaizard level right now, and barely beat Grimmjow. Unless a person was to say that Shinji and the other vaizard are far more powerful than Ichigo, then they’re all around espada level.

If the vaizard, in your opinion, are THAT much more powerful, then where can the fight possibly go? The number of remaining espadas are dwindling to almost extinction, and all the fraccion are done(not that they’d be a match anyways).

In the manga when the vaizard show up there’s only one espada remaining. And that retard kid that brought that monster with him to free Aizen and the two former captains. I might be forgetting someone, but that’s all that’s left on Aizen’s side. I doubt Shunsui and Ukitake are dead, so add them with three other captains, Soifon(though she’s missing an arm), Toushirou, and the one with the animal face, the captain-commander, Urahara and Yourichi(when they show up), AND the vaizard.
Doesn’t that seem lopsided? SOMETHING has to happen.

So if the vaizard are THAT powerful, to the point that they can own an espada such as grimmjow, then what will one remaining espada, a retarded kid, and two former captains hope to do?

This is mainly why I don’t think the vaizard are more powerful than the espadas. And the manga doesn’t present the vaizard any differently than the anime has.

But again, all I’m doing is guessing.
What else can I do with a month of filler ahead and keeping myself from reading any new issues of the manga when they come out?

first off ichigo is prolly the weakest of the vizards as he has MAJOR limitations to his powers as how long he can hold his transformation plus byakuya being single without any vizard power devistated an espada with just barely doing anything every

as well there are still all 3 top espada in fine shape in the manga not a single one has a real scratch laid on them and really gotta wonder how powerful wonderwise is that he took out ukitake in like one shot overall i don’t see yourichi or urahara taking part in anything the creator has always left them outa the action… except for maybe one fight each

Urahara and Yourichi gotta show up. They wouldn’t leave them out of the final fight, then just have them show up at the end and be like “Good job guys!”

And Ichigo HAD limitations to his hollow mask. It was never an issue with his fight with Grimmjow. Grim even commented during the fight that Ichigo learned how to keep him mask on.

And I doubt that Ichigo is the weakest vaizard. I mean, half of them were only vice captains to start with. He has to be stronger than them at least. Four were captains so it could be close. Ichigo is a captain level turned vaizard just like them. And when they were training Ichigo to be a vaizard, they were commenting how he was so dangerous that if they slipped up when fighting him, they’d probably get killed. It doesn’t seem to me like Ichigo is the weakest.

And the #2 and #3 espada took some “real scratches”. Soifon killed #2 with her bankai, and Toushirou froze #3 in ice. They’re not dead anymore since Bleach is so great at showing an espada being killed, only to have them get back up and keep fighting.
But regardless, even though they didn’t actually get killed, Soifon and Toushirou DID get them, and they most certainly took some “real scratches”.

Wonderwise is probably top level espada level. I think Shunsui even mentioned it when that kid first showed up. And yeah, he took out Ukitake… BUT WITH A CHEAP SHOT. Just like the #1 espada followed that up with a surprise attack on Shunsui. But come one… like either of them are actually dead.

And the most powerful espada is still in Hueco Mundo. I guess something has to keep Byakuya and Kenpachi occupied…

Toush- I peeked at the manga again, and the #2 and #3 espada WERE finished… Wonderwise screamed something or shot something out of his mouth to bring them back. I actually didn’t catch that when I first read the issue.

And the #1 espada seemed to take that retard very seriously, just the fact that he showed up… so maybe wonderwise is like #00 or something… since yammi is actually #0, the top espada

but hey space cadet imagine if ichigo trained the same years all of them did like azin and rest what level would he achieve?

darkninja- Who knows. It can only be speculation and guessing. One would have to say though that Ichigo has perhaps the greatest potential considering he was never a shinigami, and was able to learn bankai in less than three days. Plus he’s basically mastered the vaizard thing, so that automatically puts him ahead of a lot of the captains.
Captains like Shunsui, who’s supposed to be one of the most powerful captains (maybe even the strongest) has been a captain for over 100 years… he even made the comment that Toushirou was a genius, and prodigy captain.. but it would still take another 100 years before he surpassed him. Kenpachi is right there, considering he owned two captains at the same time- the blind guy and the one with the animal face. I can’t think of either of their names. And of course there’s Byakuya, who could be the strongest of them all sometime in the future. It’s easy to forget that he’s still young, like in his mid or late 20’s, because of how powerful he is and his demeanor.

oh yeah toushirou… how old is that guy? same age as ichigo? for a little guy that kid sure knows how to talk big lol
